Presenter Mode
Press Alt+Shift+H, or click Start Presenter Mode in the toolbar menu, before a call or recording. The toolbar icon turns red with an ON badge. Detection and your saved rules apply to every open tab and every new tab. Press the shortcut again to switch off: the blur disappears instantly and pages never reload.
The keyboard shortcut
The default is Alt+Shift+H. If another extension already uses it, your browser assigns none and BlurPilot shows No keyboard shortcut is set with a button to choose one. You can change it any time on the browser's extension shortcuts page (Settings → Keyboard shortcut → Change).
On Windows with more than one keyboard language, Alt+Shift alone switches the language; press the letter while holding both keys.
Site access
The first time you switch Presenter Mode on, BlurPilot asks to read pages so it can blur them. Choose All sites, or Only this site to allow sites one at a time. Without any access, Just this tab now blurs the current tab once. Pages are processed on your device; nothing is uploaded.
What is detected
| Type | How it is checked | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Emails | Address pattern with a real top-level domain | Free |
| Phone numbers | International formats, 8–15 digits; dates, times and versions skipped | Free |
| Card numbers | 13–19 digits in real groupings, Luhn checksum | Free |
| IBANs | Country, length and mod-97 checksum | Pro |
| API keys and tokens | Known prefixes plus long high-entropy strings | Pro |
| IP addresses | IPv4 and IPv6; off by default | Pro |
| Money amounts | Currency symbol or code plus number; off by default | Pro |
| Custom words | Your list, on word boundaries, optional case match | Pro |
Fields that contain a match are blurred as a whole. Detection is assistive and can miss data; use rules or blur everything except for anything critical.
Click-to-blur and saved rules
Click Blur an element in the toolbar menu, or right-click → Blur this element. Hover to highlight, click to blur; press ↑ to widen the selection to the parent, Esc to cancel. Then choose This page, This section or Whole site to remember it.
Draw a region blurs an area instead, useful for charts and canvas content. Manage everything in Settings → Rules: rename, pause, change scope or delete. Free keeps 3 active rules; Pro is unlimited.
Blur everything except
For high-risk demos (Pro): switch on Blur everything except… in the toolbar menu, then Choose what stays visible and click the parts to show. Everything else is blurred, images and charts included.
Paste guard
While Presenter Mode is on (Pro), BlurPilot asks before an API key, card number, IBAN or custom word is pasted into a web field, so it never appears on your shared screen.
Rule packs and teams
Settings → Import / Export saves your rules, custom words and detection choices as one JSON file. Import merges by rule: matching rules are updated, new ones added, nothing deleted. Leads share one pack so the whole team blurs the same fields.
IT administrators can push a pack to managed browsers through policy: set the key rulePack for the BlurPilot extension to the exported JSON. Managed rules apply read-only.
Use Pro on another device
Settings → Plan & license → I already have Pro. Enter your checkout email and the 6-digit code we send. Each person can use 3 devices; when all are in use, the restore screen lets you free one.
Report a miss
If something was not blurred, use Report a miss at the bottom of the toolbar menu. It sends only the data type and the site's domain, never the text, and only when you click it.
Limits
BlurPilot works on web pages. It does not cover desktop apps, images, video, PDFs opened outside the page, closed shadow DOM components or text drawn on a canvas. Browser pages and extension stores cannot be changed by any extension.
